Service for Sleetie L.(littie mama) King 96 of Longview will be 2:p.m.Saturday,October 8, 2011 at the Growing Valley Baptist Church with Elder Benny Johnson,Rev.Kelvin Lynch officiating.
Burial will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery Longview, Texas services under the caring hands of the Bigham Mortuary of Longview
Mrs. King passed away on Monday, October 3, 2011 at her residence in Longview with her family by her side
Sleetie was born in Camden, Ark to the late Joseph Given and Mary L.Randall she attended Camden Schools and finish in Longview school, later she attend Bishop College in Marshall, Texas and Hurds beauty school also in Marshall. Always willing and wanting to help people she went to Dallas school of nursing.Mrs.King was one of the two only living members that help with the organization of Growing Valley Baptist Church. She was a member of the Usher b~a~d, Mission dept.Sunday, school teacher, historian and a member of the Order of Eastern Stars.
She returned back to Longview and open King Beauty shop and operated it for over 50 plus years before she retired many young and old remember going to her to get their hair done. She met and married Dan King and no kids was born but they then adopted Mary Ann her brother child whom they raised, Dan and Mary who proceeded her in death alone with her parents ,sister and brother.Mrs.King was a caring and loving person who always took the time to do for others.
Left to cherish her memory are James(Barbara)Scott,Pamala Todd, god son whom she help raised Vince Williams, special niece Sarah Beavers, God daughter Debra Fitts and very devoted friend Dorothy Bell and Jane Johnson
