Reverend. Joe Caleb Lovely, Jr.
February 27, 1962 – August 28, 2026
Joe Caleb Lovely, Jr. was born on February 27, 1962, to Joe Caleb Lovely, Sr. and Lola Mae Cole in Longview TX. (both have proceeded him in death)He was raised in East Texas, where he developed the values of faith, family, education, and service that would guide him throughout his life.
Joe attended Janie Daniels Elementary School and later graduated from Longview High School with the Class of 1980. His academic achievements earned him a full scholarship to Louisiana Tech University, where he furthered his education and prepared for future success.
At an early age, Joe accepted Christ and became a member of Growing Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend R.B. Bradley. Throughout his walk of faith, Joe ministered and worshipped with several area churches in surrounding communities. While he found great fulfillment serving alongside fellow congregations, his heart remained at Growing Valley Baptist Church, where he returned and faithfully served until the completion of his earthly journey.
Joe was a man who loved God, valued family, and embraced the importance of community. His unwavering faith, kind spirit, and willingness to serve others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
In 1994, Joe met the love of his life, Katina Flowers. The two were united in holy matrimony and shared 32 wonderful years of love, companionship, and devotion. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, respect, and family.
Joe leaves to cherish his precious memories: his devoted wife, Katina Flowers Lovely; his sisters, Lola Lovely Hayes of Longview, Texas, and Maudie Lovely Empy(Vincent Polson) of Lancaster, Texas; bonus children Sonya Flowers (Portia Boone-Flowers) and Terrance Flowers; beloved goddaughters Malaysia Hunter, Kenya Hunter, and Lhanique McBride; and grandchildren Braylon Flowers, Treyvon Flowers, Legend Vasquez, and Chance Flowers. Joe leaves to cherish his memory a host of loving sisters in law, brother in laws, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
He also leaves behind our extended Family members, Velma McGlothin and Katina Valentine. Robert Valentine, Edward Valentine, and Roger Valentine.
Joe's life was a testament to faith, perseverance, love, and dedication. His legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the unwavering faith he demonstrated throughout his life.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
