Life Reflections for Bishop Curtis Slay
It is said that when life begins, it is like an open book with many blank pages. Each day as we live, our deeds are recorded page by page until we close our eyes in death and await that great getting up morning.
The pages of this book opened when Bishop Curtis J Slay was born September 12, 1953, in Waco, Texas, to the late Zebdee and Rosie M. Slay. When he was a baby his parents moved to Lubbock, Texas. He grew up there and attended Lubbock schools: Mary Mack, Estacada High School, South Plains College, Texas Tech, and OLC Texas.
He is the founder and Bishop of Plain Truth Lubbock and Plain Truth Longview Churches.
Bishop Slay had a love for God and for all people that was boundless. He had a special bond with his children and grandchildren. He worked for Staples of Tyler, Texas and he often shared how he enjoyed the people he worked with and the people he encountered during his daily deliveries.
Bishop Slay was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eddie Slay.
The final pages of the book on Bishop Slay were written on Sunday, July 21, 2024. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Missionary Dorothy Slay; his children Sharonda Holmes (Troy), Ramona Slay-Jackson, Crystal Slay, Roderick Jones, Jonathon Johnson, Charles Flowers, Shannon Williams, DeShawn Donalson, Tyronda Jones (Dennis), Tonia Levingston, Monty Slay, Iris Paulette Sims, Savanna Harvey; special nephew Eddie Slay ll; godchildren Bronshia Richards and Tawana Jenkins; a host of grand and great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
