Billie N. Shirey ( Smith )

Billie N. Shirey, a cherished wife, mother, and spiritual pillar, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, at her residence in Longview, Texas. She was 94 years old.

Born on April 19, 1930, in the Cartwright community of Wood County, Billie was the daughter of the late William Clyde Smith and Mary Goldie Kirkpatrick Smith. Her early life was marked by a deep faith and a love for music, nurtured as she followed her father, a Baptist preacher, in his mission to spread the Gospel. Billie learned to play hymns on the piano by ear, showcasing a natural talent and devotion that would define her life's work.

Billie’s journey took her to various communities as she supported her husband, Benjamin Moses Shirey, through his career with Entex Gas. From Mineola to Rusk to Highlands and Longview, Billie created a loving home wherever they went, always placing her family at the center of her life. Billie was a member of LifeBridge Christian Center in Longview, TX.

Billie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benjamin Moses Shirey; her son, Benjamin M. Shirey II; her daughter, LeAnne Shirey Barron; her brothers, William, Charles, and Joe Bob; and her sisters, Winnie, Dorthy, Mary, and Clydean.

She is survived by her daughters, Angela Shirey Terry and Jill Shirey Casey; her sons, Lance Shirey and wife Patricia, and John Shirey and wife Tracey; and a host of beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family who will remember her for her unwavering faith, boundless love, and the warmth she brought into their lives.

Billie’s legacy of love, faith, and family will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. She

will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends
