Muslim Service will be held at 2 pm Friday November 25, 2016 at East Texas Islamic Temple Mosque 10631 Tx-64 Tlyer,Tx. Bed of Rest will follow in East Texas Islamic Cemetery as well in Tyler,Tx..Under the Caring Hands and The Professional of Bigham Mortuary. Memorial Services for Iman Abdallah, 64, of Longview, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Welch Funeral Home Chapel, 4619 Judson Road, with Darrell Lyons officiating. Mr. Abdallah passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 from a sudden medical event. He was surrounded by loving family and caring neighbors. Despite everyone's sadness was the repeated comment about his friendly smile and his positive disposition. Mr. Abdallah was born August 8,1952 in Longview, Texas to Richard Albert and Annie Laurie Stoker Lyons in Longview. Mr. Abdallah grew up in Longview surrounded by a large family, many relatives and a community of strong educators and servant leaders. Mr. Abdallah attended Southside Elementary school during his primary years, Maggie B. Hudson Jr. High and on to Longview Sr. High School. He was an excellent student. He was required to repeat test as his scores were taunted as "impossible". Mr. Abdallah graduated High school as a National Merit Scholar. He earned a Bachelors Degree from Rice University of Houston, Tx. in 1979. He worked many years for the City of Houston Water and Engineering Department. He returned to Graduate school earned a degree in Law from Yeshiva University, New York, NY. He attended Benjamin Cardoza School of Law earning the Prestigious Jacob Burns Medal. Mr. Abdallah obtained a degree in Patent Law whereby he could pursue and practice his life passion of Innovation and Invention. Mr. Abdallah's most cherished life event was the birth and life of his daughter, Nia Nicole Abdallah (Silver Medal Olympian-2004) and granddaughter Lela Brinkley. Mr. Abdallah was reared as a Christian. As a young adult he became a worshiper of Allah and lived his life as a Muslim; Islamic Faith. Mr. Abdallah is survived by his daughter Nia Nicole (Rhonda); granddaughter Lela Brinkley; sisters, Reba Taylor, Corlis Lyons Vance and Shalor Anderson; brothers, Demetrius Lyons and Richard D. Lyons; nephew, Markus Richardson (Sherina). Mr. Abdallah was preceded in death by his grandparents; Wade Runnels and Mattie D. Stoker Robinson. Richard Albert Lyons Sr. and Allie Lyons Coleman; older brother Huelyn Bernard Stoker; mother Annie Laurie Stoker Lyons; a cousin, William E. Gardner; aunt, Arnell Gardner Lewisfather, Richard Albert Lyons Jr. He is mourned by a host of friends, family, relatives, siblings, in-laws, classmates, community and his Muslim brothers & family
